The holiday season is quickly approaching, and there's no time like the present to kick off your holiday decorating!

If you're seeking a quick and easy DIY project, you're in luck. You can craft this charming hanging decoration using just three items you probably already have around your home!

How To DIY a Cozy Christmas Sweater Hanging Decoration.

Below is a list of the items you will need to recreate this project:

Thrifted Sweater
Hot Glue Gun
Velvet Red Ribbon
Scissors

I started with an old white sweater I picked up at the thrift store.

To create the long hanging pouch I cut the sleeve of the sweater and set the rest of the sweater to the side.

Next, I began rolling over the bottom part of the sleeve. As you can see in the image below, this is the portion that would usually rest on the wrist when worn

Using my hot glue gun, I applied glue inside the rolled-up part of the sleeve, securing the bottom to form a pocket.

Next, I began working on the top part of the pouch.

I rolled over the sweater material again to hide the raw edges and hot-glued the fabric to create a clean hem.

Your pouch will look like this once you are done.

Don’t worry if it looks small, it will stretch once we add our Christmas embellishments.

Lastly, I used red velvet ribbon to create a handle so that I could hang my Christmas pouch!

This sweater had holes that I could string the ribbon through. If yours does not, you can use scissors to make a small hole in either side of the fabric.

I strung one side of the velvet ribbon through a hole and tied a knot. Then, I did the same on the other side.

& that is it! I told you it was QUICK and EASY! :)

To embellish your DIY Christmas Pouch you can add items like Christmas tree clippings, pine leaves, pine cones, or branches. The options are endless so find items that match your home decor style.
