When you think of a thrift flip you think of taking an old product and making it new. But today I am going to show you how you can DIY a newer item and give it a beautiful aged look! The result is absolutely stunning and it blends in so well with the rustic antique style of my home decor.

In this blog, I will show you How To Make New Products Look Old With Dixie Belle Patina Paints!

Below is a list of the items you will need to recreate this project:

This is actually copper plated and a little too shiny for me so I decided to give this piece a makeover.

I used Dixie Belle Patina Products to make this piece look more aged.

First, I used a STAALMEESTER Pointed Sash Brush to apply Dixie Belle Patina Paint in Copper to the entire product.

I applied 2 coats of this to the metal.

When using Patina products on metal, you are supposed to use Prime Start first.

This is because the paint can eat through the metal or rust the product.

However, that would actually be a bonus for me so I decided to skip that step!

Next, I used Dixie Belle Patina Spray to cause the chemical reaction that gives the metal and old and aged look!

I started with the green bottle and used a paper towel to dab.

Then I used a little bit of the blue bottle because the blue has a much more vibrant color. You don’t need to use as much.

Then I let it dry so that the chemical reaction will start.

Instead of the bright and shiny copper look - your piece will now have a beautiful, aged patina look!

DIY TIP: You can use Patina Paint & Spray products on so many different materials such as, metal, glass, plastic, ceramic, etc.

It is so much fun - you should try it out today!
