You will want to purchase these stockings from my website to get started.

There are 3 styles to choose from:

  • Plain- clean lines all the way around

  • Frayed Edges- all the edges are raw and has a 2in fold over on top.

  • & with Pocket- has a cute frayed edge pocket perfect for greenery or gift cards.

I made all 3 so that they coordinate and work well together!

The first thing I did when creating these stamped stockings was tea dye one of my stockings!

Tea dying will give the stockings a primitive rustic feel, but you can leave them plain drop cloth if you are not into that style. The plain drop cloth is still a very beautiful look!

It is very simple if you have never created a tea dye. All you need to do is:

  • grab a big mixing bowl

  • fill it with water

  • soak a few tea bags in the water

Before you drop your fabric into the tea, remove the tea bags from the bowl of water so that they do not leave spotted dark stains your fabric.

I dropped my stocking into the mixture and let it soak for a minute or two.

Then, I laid the stocking out to dry.

As you can see below, the tea dye adds a rustic darkening to your fabric. I love how this turned out!

First, I laid out the stamps I wanted to use on my stocking.

I decided to use my IOD Typesetting Stamp Collection for the number 6 and the IOD Alphabellies Stamp Collection for the floral detailing.

The Alphabellies Stamp Collection has so many great small embellishments. You can use this stamp for so many different projects!

Then, I laid my thin mount on top so that it adheres to the stamps and flip it back over.

Next, I generously applied IOD black ink onto the stamps.

Then, I flipped the thin mount back over and it was time to transfer the stamp to my stocking.

To do this, I lined up where I wanted my stamp to be placed on the stocking.

Then, I firmly pressed the thin mount into the stocking so the ink evenly transferred.

Look at that! You can use numbers, letters, or decorative elements to embellish your stockings!

For my next stocking, I decided to use the IOD Crockery Stamp Collection.

Like above, I applied ink to my stamp while it was attached to the thin mount.

Once again, I firmly pressed my hands into the thin mount so that the stamp evenly transferred onto the stocking.

And of course, it came out looking beautiful!

The options are endless for designing your stamped primitive Christmas stockings!

Do you want to stamp your family’s initials? Numbers for each family member? Or Christmas-themed decorative stamps? You can do it!
