To begin, you will want to use old glass globe light fixtures.

Since we were swapping out some of hte light fixtures in our home, I was able to use those. This is an ultimate from trash-to-treasure DIY!

Apply Dixie Belle Chalk Paint in the shade Cotton all over two of the glass globes, leaving the remaining two glass globes clear.

I used a spray gun to apply the paint, however, you could use a STAALMEESTER Pointed Sash Brush if that is what you have available to use.

Using a wet paper towel, you will wet distress the painted globes by wiping away some of the paint.

What is Wet Distressing?

Wet distressing is a painting and finishing technique used in DIY projects. It involves intentionally distressing or aging a painted surface to achieve a weathered, worn, or vintage look. Wet distressing is typically performed by applying a water-based liquid, such as water or a water-dampened cloth, to the painted surface before it has fully dried. The moisture softens the paint, making it easier to remove or manipulate.

The process of wet distressing can involve gently scrubbing, rubbing, or wiping the painted surface with a cloth, sponge, or sandpaper to reveal the underlying layers or the wood grain beneath. This technique mimics the natural wear and tear that occurs over time, giving the piece a rustic or antique appearance.

Wet distressing is a way to add character and a sense of history to furniture, cabinets, or other painted items, creating a shabby chic or vintage effect.

Next, use jute twine and a hot glue gun to create the ornament holder for these glass globes.

To begin, tightly wind the jute twine around the rim of the glass globe.

Be sure to leave around 10 inches of jute twine extending out so that you can later secure it by tying it to the opposite side.

This is how you will craft the hanger.

After the jute twine has been wrapped around the rim of the glass globe, use a hot glue gun to secure the jute twine into place.

I recommend placing hot glue right where the tails of your jute twine meets the lip of the glass globe. This will enhance the stability of the jute twine, ensuring it stays securely fastened when hung on a Christmas tree.

Once the glue is dried, tie both sides of the jute twine together in a bow so that it creates a handle for the glass globe ornament.

These turned out even better than I could have ever imagined! If you want your unique Christmas ornaments to emit a warm and cozy glow, I highly recommend getting some LED tea lights that have an auto-timer included to place inside the ornament. This will create that delightful Christmas ambiance; you won’t have to mess with them since they are on a timer.

Now you can decorate your tree with these beautiful and unique Christmas ornaments! How easy was that DIY? Plus, it is super budget-friendly.
