This project began when I came across a beautiful image – a stamped bowl that stood out as something I had to recreate!

It had an intricate design and rustic charm, it was a piece of art I knew had to be brought to life. The result? A beautiful recreation of this aged stamped design that I know I will be recreating for many projects to come.

So, grab your tools, dust off your thrifted treasures, and let's start crafting, repurposing, and making ordinary thrifted items into something truly extraordinary!

In this blog, I will show you How To Thrift Flip A Vintage Item Into Unique Home Decor Pieces!

Below is a list of the items you will need to recreate this project:

Ever since I saw a picture of this bowl, I have been wanting to recreate this look!

From the Goodwill Outlet bins to beautiful home decor Thrift Flips Home Decor on a Budget

Unfortunately, I didnt find a similar bowl while thrifiting but I did find this watering can!

I found stamps in both the IOD Winter Adornment and IOD Rural Scenes collections that looked like they would be perfect!

First, I used a STAALMEESTER Pointed Sash Brush to paint the watering can with Fusion Mineral Paint in the color Champlain.

Since the watering can color was very close to the color of the paint, I only had to paint 1 coat.

I did not paint the gold because it already looks beautiful and I don’t want to change its look.

Once the paint dried, I played around with the stamps to see where I wanted to apply them on the watering can.

Once I had the placement decided, I laid my stamps onto a thin mount and then inked them up with IOD Ink.

I used a color that I previously made called Holiday Red. I created this color by mixing IOD tomato red and IOD black ink.

Next, I flipped the thin mount over and pressed it down in the place where I wanted the stamp to transfer.

When stamping on a round surface you want to follow these steps:

  • Press your RIGHT hand into the center of the thin mount/stamp

  • Use your LEFT hand to press the stamp into the left side of the watering can

  • Then swap hands so that your LEFT hand is holding the center of the thin mount and your RIGHT hand is pressing the stamp into the right side of the water can

  • This will help make sure your stamp evenly transfers to your item

How cute is that? I was SO happy when I saw the result!

I went around and made other stamps swapping between both collections but still using the same holiday red colored ink.

You could always stop there if you want!

However, I wanted this watering can to look more like the worn color of the bowl so I decided to apply Antiquing Glaze to give it an aged look.

Before I started that process though, I realized I had this beautiful pitcher in my stash and I wanted to paint it because it was perfect for this project!

BONUS PROJECT:

Just like the watering can, I started by painting the pitcher with Fusion Mineral Paint in the color Champlain.

Once the paint was dry, I used an IOD Empty Ink Pad and IOD Ink in the color China Blue to apply the stamps.

For this project, I decided to use the IOD Stamp Collection - Rural Scenes.

By the way, IOD ink is permanent. Once it dries, it is not coming off!

After I applied the stamps on the pitcher - I focused on both the watering can AND the pitcher!

I used a STAALMEESTER Pointed Sash Brush to apply 1 coat of Antiquing Glaze to the watering can and the pitcher!

Then, I used a dry paper towel to wipe off the excess glaze on both the watering can and the pitcher.

I am obsessed with how both of these projects turned out!

What do you think?

Does mine match the inspo photo?

Do you have a favorite between the red watering can and the blue pitcher?
