I purchased my ornaments from the Dollar Tree. This size and the detailing seemed perfect for this project. I won’t be able to use the glittered ornaments so I set those aside for a future project.

Dixie Belle Chalk paint in the color Mint Julep is perfect for this jadeite look!

I used needle nose pliers to easily hold the ornaments while I painted them.

I applied one coat to each ornament. Then, I went through and did touch-ups.

Ornaments can be expensive, so I find ways to be thrifty with my ornaments. You can find them at thrift stores, garage sales, and estate sales.

All you have to do is purchase thrifted ornaments and then use paint, an antiquing glaze, or patina paint to turn them into your home decor style.

Other DIY Ornament Ideas:

Once your ornaments are fully painted, allow them to dry completely.

Since this is a chalk paint, I had to seal them up.

I used Fusion Decoupage Transfer Gel to seal the paint and give it a sheen. If you want a flat finish, you can leave them as is.

For the last step, I picked out a ribbon to use to hang my ornaments on the tree. I went back and forth between red and white. Ultimately, I chose white for this project but I wanted to show you how pretty the red looks next to the jadeite color.

You can choose whatever ribbon color matches best with your home decor style!

DIY’ing Christmas ornaments can be a creative way to add a personal touch to your holiday decor. DIY allows you to customize your tree and decorations according to your home decor style!

While jadeite might not suit everyone's home decor style, there are various DIY painting techniques and materials available to create unique and beautiful ornaments.
