IOD unveiled their 2024 Spring collection, igniting a wave of inspiration that swept through my DIY studio! I have already created so many unique DIY projects. Most recently, I was blown away with how beautifully the typography transferred over from this new collection. You are going to love it!

For this project, I combined a product that I always thrift when I find them - wood finials.

And a product that I love to use - IOD transfers!

The best part? This project is perfect for both DIY Beginners AND DIY Pros - so don’t wait to get started today!

In this blog, I will show you How To Apply IOD Transfers To Wood Surfaces!

Below is a list of the items you will need to recreate this project:

The other day I stumbled upon a stash of wooden finial tops. These little knobs have become a staple in my craft stash, leading to countless DIY projects through the years.

It is super easy to get the screw out of the wooden finial. Use a pair of pliers and give it a little twist and pull until it comes out.

I used the Lovers of Flowers IOD Transfer Collection for this project.

I love this collection because not only does it have beautiful flowers but it also has detailed typography.

For this project, I used the typography.

I used my scissors to cut out the poem that I wanted to use.

Next, I peeled off the white backing sheet and centered the transfer on the wooden finial.

To apply a transfer to a rounded surface, I started in the middle and then work my way out to the edges.

Using the transfer tool, I lightly rubbed the transfer onto the surface.

Then, I slowly peeled back the transfer tape so that I could see the transfer on the wood finial.

Since the wooden finials had a glossier surface, the transfer stuck really well!

How unique is that?

I was so excited about the typography in this transfer. It looks like the wording was printed on these pieces.

I could have left them as if, however, a few weeks ago I thrifted these wooden bases and I knew they were meant to be joined together with the wooden finials.

To attach the two pieces, I applied hot glue to the bottom side of the wooden finial.

Then, I pressed the wooden finial into the center of the wood base.

Of course, I could have stopped there but I had another fun idea!

I love to add florals to finials so I grabbed this Late Bloomers Bush from my stash and cut 1 sprig off.

Then, I took my cordless drill and put a hole into the top of the wooden finials.

Next, I added hot glue right into the hole and stuck the floral sprig into the hole!

How cool are these? I love how they looked and I loved how easy they were to style in my home.

How would you style these in your home? Let me know in the comments below.
